How to keep score in disc golf?

Keeping score in disc golf is similar to traditional golf. As abeginner you should not stress about keeping score. You will naturally have a clue when you evolve and notice your skill improving.

If you are a competitive person, here's how to keep score in disc golf

Basic Scoring:

  1. Strokes: Each throw a player makes counts as one stroke.

  2. Par: Each hole has a designated par, which is the expected number of strokes it should take to complete the hole.

  3. Score Relative to Par:Birdie (-1): Completing the hole in one stroke less than par.
Par (0): Completing the hole in the expected number of strokes.
Bogey (+1): Completing the hole in one stroke more than par.
Double Bogey (+2): Completing the hole in two strokes more than par, and so on.

Keeping Score During the Round:

  1. Scorecard: Use a physical scorecard or a digital scoring app (like UDisc) to track scores.

  2. Marking Scores: After each hole, mark the number of strokes taken by each player.

  3. Total Score: Sum the strokes for all holes to get the total score for each player at the end of the round.

Example:

If a hole is a par 3:

  • A player takes 2 throws to complete the hole: score is -1 (birdie).

  • Another player takes 3 throws: score is 0 (par).

  • Another player takes 4 throws: score is +1 (bogey).
