VIDEO Description
The basic disc golf throwing techniques shown in this video include the backhand and the forehand shot (or sidearm).
Backhand Throw BASICS IS KEY
There's an art to executing the perfect backhand throw. With a focus on maintaining a straight line from the reach back to the throwing motion, your technique's overall consistency hinges on optimal disc height and distance from the body. Finding that sweet spot could mean the difference between a disc that veers off-course and one that sails straight and true.
Equally critical is the grip: a misplaced finger can throw off your aim entirely.
Emphasize keeping your wrist in a neutral position and work on reaching and extending through the subsequent release for smoother, more controlled throws.
Remember - Flat, level and low!
Forehand Throw Basics
The sidearm throw, or the forehand throw, is a versatile addition to any disc golfer's arsenal. It's ideal for maneuvering around obstacles or even achieving greater distance in some cases.
Typically preferred by beginners, the motion closely echoes other sports-related throws, thereby making it more intuitively accessible. Gripping the disc correctly with middle finger pad on the inside rim, pointer finger on top—is vital to achieving the correct spin and trajectory.
Master the Basics
The secret to mastering the game isn't about complexity—it's about simplicity. Training yourself to maintain a level disc from start to finish is central to this. Focusing on this singular line of motion fosters discipline. Our tutorial rolls out the fundamentals in an easy-to- understand format that keeps the process light and stress-free.
