What actually separates practice from performance?
In this Pro Playbook, you’ll follow Eric Oakley as he prepares for the 2024 Chess.com Invitational in Brooksville, Florida. This isn’t just a practice round. It’s a real look at how a touring pro studies the course, builds a game plan, and makes decisions that carry into competition.
As you walk the course with Eric, you’ll see how every shot is evaluated from tee to landing zone to approach. More importantly, you’ll understand why those decisions are made and how they translate under pressure when the tournament begins.
This is where casual practice turns into intentional preparation. Then comes the real test.
When the first round begins, conditions change. The wind picks up, and the course demands new decisions. You’ll see how Eric adapts in real time. This is where preparation meets execution.
By the end of this course, you’ll not only see how professionals prepare, you’ll have a clear framework to improve your own practice rounds and carry that confidence into competition.

This hole is a good emphasis on why practicing is important. The hole would be really difficult to even par for the first time, if you would be playing it blind. Eric also talks about knowing your landing zones especially near the basket, because it may save you a stroke. Eric also gives a great advice on putting practice during the practice round.
